POWELL, Floyd "Buck" Albert, 78, of Suffolk, Va., passed away August 18, 2008. He was born in Smithfield, Va., the son of the late Harvey and Mary Valentine. He was a U.S. Army veteran after serving during the, Korean War. Buck retired after 30 years as the grounds and building supervisor for V.D.O.T. He was a member of the Independence Christian Church in Ashland, Va., and was also a member of the Suffolk Elks Lodge #685. Buck is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Jethro Darden of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Bernard, Dennis and Billie Jean; stepgrandchildren, Everett and David; great-grandchildren, Devin, Ashley, Chelsey, Brittany, John Jr. and Jordan; stepgreat-grandchildren, Matthew and Heather; sister, Susie Belle McNamara of Richmond, Va.; foster sisters, Elizabeth Cannon of Ashland, Va., Kathleen DePanicis of Ashland, Va.; foster brother, Russell Bumpass of Ashland, Va. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 22, 2008, 2 p.m., at Holly Lawn Cemetery, with Rev. Charles W. Thompson officiating. Friends may join the family Thursday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, Va., and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
