Mary Elizabeth Powell, age 90 of Addison, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 29, 1935 to John and Nancy Turner. Mary was giving, loving, and kind-hearted. Her family was the center of her life. Mary loved to shop and go on trips with her church. She was a 60 year member of First Baptist Church of Addison, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. In her 2-3 year old class she taught them about Jesus and at the end of each class she gave them cheese curls, and M & M's. All of the kids remember her for that. She loved teaching Bible school and feeding the all the children. She loved her family and friends most of all.
Visitation will be Monday, November 17, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Addison. Mary will lie in state Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the church, where the service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Enmondfield Cemetery in Addison. Brother Mark Kimbrell, Brother Greg Dollar, and Brother Samuel Tucker will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Damon Cleghorn, Drew Powell, Dayson Parker, Dathan Cleghorn, Drake Cleghorn, Drew Johnson, and Dr. Terry James. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lincoln Lee and Hollis Parker.
Mary is survived by her children, Delina (Darrell) Cleghorn, David Powell and D'Sheil P. Parker; grandchildren, Demicca Baker, Damon (Melissa) Cleghorn, Drew (Bethany) Powell, Hannah Powell, Drea Lee, Dayson (Ralie) Parker; great grandchildren, Dacey Baker, Dathan Cleghorn, Drake Cleghorn, Anna Beth Powell, Allie Ruth Powell, Lincoln Lee, Laiyton Rae Lee, Hollis Parker, Coraline Parker, Millie Jane Parker; sister, Sarah Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Powell; parents, John and Nancy Turner; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Ruth Powell; Baby Lee; son, Jackie Dale Powell.
