Helen Scott Cunningham Jenkins

JENKINS, Helen Scott Cunningham, after a full and joyful life, has departed in peace to be with her Lord. Born in Richmond, Va., on August 29, 1915, she was the daughter of Scott Cunningham and Clarine Totty Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, L. Howard Jenkins Jr. She is survived by her sister, Clarine Cunningham Bergren of Greenville, S.C.; her daughter, Helen Jenkins Ryan and her husband, Jim; her son, L. Howard Jenkins III and his wife, Cheryl; her grandsons, L. Howard Jenkins IV and his wife, Gin, D. Scott Jenkins and his wife, Lauren, and C. Peyton Jenkins, all of Alexandria, Va.; and her great-grandchildren, Haley, Matthew, Howard and Taylor Jenkins. Mrs. Jenkins was a Gray Lady and Staff Assistant for the Red Cross during World War II. She was a member of the Senior Board of Children's Hospital, Chapel Guild of the University of Richmond, The Council of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Tuckahoe Woman's Club and The Woman's Club. The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at 12 Calycanthus Road. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 25, at First Baptist Church. Interment in Hollywood Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's Hospital, 2924 Brook Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220. The Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
