MELTON, Mr. Bruce W., age 68, died Monday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was formerly of Glen Allen, Va. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dr. Teri Ann Denlea Melton of Statesboro; and his son, Gregory E. Melton and his family of Richmond, Va. Bruce was a career Virginia state employee, serving 32 years before retiring in 1991 as Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles. He and his wife lived in the Dominican Republic for 10 years, and then relocated to Southern Florida. They recently relocated to Statesboro, Ga., where his wife is a faculty member of the College of Education at Georgia Southern University. Bruce wished you all a happy thought toward life, and hopes you all enjoy your life as much as he did his. A memorial service will be Friday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Ogeechee Area Hospice, with Reverends Steve Darby and Joan Killian officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459. Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com. To the Melton family:
I am very saddened to learn of Bruce's passing. I remember him from my beginning years with the Virginia Employment Commission in the early 70's. Bruce had an infectious sense of humor. When I would come by his office to pick up daily microfilm, he would always have a joke to tell or something to say that would keep a smile on my face the rest of the day. Humanity has lost a wonderful individual. May God continue to bless you in your period of bereavement

Teri:
I am sorry I never had the pleasure
of meeting you, but I just want to tell you that Bruce and I were the best of buddies while in school at
Thomas Jefferson. We both played
in the band. Bruce was a tuba player
and I was in the drum section. I
cannot believe he is gone, but believe me, I will never ever forget
this guy. He still means a lot to me.

Teri-
Please accept my sincere sympathy. Bruce was one of the nicest looking, kindest friends I ever had. He was a class gentleman. We had so many good times together. Bruce could always find humor in any situation and he truly cared about people. It was an honor and a pleasure to know him and be his friend and he mine. Bruce was the kind of man you never forget. Bruce once had a boat named "My Pleasure" but it was my pleasure to know him. Sincerely, Mac McGee

Bruce and I used to ride motorcycles together. He was a good sport, a good friend, and loved to laugh and tease and have fun with his buddies. He always was smiling and had a great outlook on life. God Bless Him, we will all miss him.

You and Bruce were great neighbors and friends who were missed immediately when you moved to GA. Very sorry to hear about our buddy, Bruce. We look at your house every day expecting to see you both, especially since Britt trots over to your garage for a visit everytime she goes out. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Teri,
Unfortunately I never had the chance to meet you but Bruce and myself went to school together at Thomas Jefferson H.S. in Richmond and played in the Cadet Band. He found out someway that I was a Realtor in the Northern Neck of Virginia and contacted me when you came back to Florida from Costa Rica about the possibility of finding a waterfront property in our area of Virginia. We spoke briefly and I had hoped to see him but we lost contact once again. We had some great times at TJ together when we were both young and foolish and he certainly loved life and all it offered even as a young man. He will be sorely missed.

I spent many hours water skiing with Bruce. He loved to dance, he loved to ski, he LOVED LIFE. God Bless him in his new journey. He had personality plus, always seemed to be in a good mood. He was a good friend and a good man.

Bruce's family, his son Gregory, daughter-in-law Lisa, and only grandchild Madison, who he playfully referred to as "Brucinda," will miss the fun spirit Bruce brought to life. He loved his friends and family very much and we all loved his great sense of humor and the way he loved to enjoy life. We wish Madison had been able to fully appreciate this side of her Grandfather. We do take comfort in knowing he's now reunited with Peggy. Godspeed. Love, Gregory, Lisa, Maddy, The Lohrs, Gauldings, Daniels, and Sauvagers.
