WALKER, Dorothy Lee Hawkes "Gram," age 86, of Richmond, departed this life Friday, September 5, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian Jackson Jefferson; 12 sisters and brothers; and her beloved dog, Tiffany. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, Orie (Beverly) Hawkes of Mainesburg, Pa., and Jimmie (Josette) Hawkes of Manassas, Va.; two daughters, Gladys Wilder of Richmond, Va., and Mary D. (Albert) Fontaine of Carteret, N.J.; one brother, James Jefferson of Blackstone, Va.; one sister, Clara Hawkes of Blackstone, Va., 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; her very special caregivers, Martha Chandler of Winter Springs, Fla., and Maxine Kenney of Richmond, Va. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where the family will receive friends Thursday, September 11, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., and where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Rev. Ronald C. Taylor officiating. Interment Friday, September 12, at 12 noon at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone, Va. Online guest book at www.scottsfuneralhome.com.

I met this kind lady in 1968 when "Mary" had a little graduation party in her home. The food Ms Walker prepared was fit for a King! Her warmth and generosity will be remembered always by me. Today she can sit at a "Feast" with Jesus.
