Barbara Porter Obituary

PORTER, Barbara Robbins, 73, of Chesterfield, Va., departed this life October 5, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Virginia Greene and Obadiah Robbins. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Odell Porter Sr. She is survived by her son and two daughters, Alvin Odell "Sonny" Porter Jr. of Dinwiddie, Barbara Caroline "Bunny" Porter of Hopewell, Betsey Anna and husband, William A. Brown, of Richmond; granddaughters, Whitney and husband, Mark Watson, Kelsey Porter, Gillian Brown and Camryn Brown. She was an avid supporter of both First Baptist Church of Hopewell and the 700 Club. She enjoyed being a part of the church family and was crazy about her grand-daughters and little dog, "Mo." She was also a member of the Hopewell High School graduating class of 1953, where she retained the friendship of many of her class and schoolmates. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Hopewell. Friends and family will be available one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the First Baptist Church of Hopewell and the American Heart Association. Very special thanks from the family to Heidi Styles for her love, care and friendship over the past months.
