I was so shocked to hear of Ms. Thornton's passing. She was a very sweet lady whom I had got to know a little because she had ties to my home town of Drakes Branch in Charlotte Co. I will miss seeing her face at Sixth Baptist. GOD BLESS her family.

To the family of Ms. Thornton

I'm sad to hear of Ms.Thornton passing. I had the privilege of knowing Ms. Thornton several years ago she taught my son at Redd Elementary School. We all live in the same community. After her retirement I would see her taking her daily walk. She was always very kind and compassionate lady. I'll miss seeing her walking. I say this to the family keep your faith in God in and he will strengthen you in the days ahead.

My thoughts are with you today. I was sadden to read about the death of Mrs. Thornton. I came to know Mrs. Thornton and her sister Lillie Venable, when I joined the Sixth Baptist Church family. We all were members of the Ida J. Mason Usher Board. Mrs. Thornton was always a very quiet nature woman.

Please except my words of sympathy.

Miss her but let her go. When Aunt Cat came to the end of the road and the sun had set her free, she wanted no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss her but let her go. For this is a journey that we all must take. And each must go alone. It's all part of the Master's Plan, a step on the road home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends you know, and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds. Miss her but let me go.

I offer my deepest sympathy to the family of Catherine Thornton. I pray that God’s mercy grant you peace and comfort during your time of loss. Remember to always look to the Father, for He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
