Catherine L. Throckmorton

THROCKMORTON, Catherine L., of Sandston, Va., passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George "Buddy" M. Throck-morton. She is further survived by her three children and their families: daughter, Sheila Kagalis and husband, Luis Kagalis; son, George M. Throckmorton Jr. and wife, Carol Throckmorton; daughter, Karen Hill Zekert and husband, Bart Zekert. Catherine lovingly cherished her four grandchildren, Casie Kagalis, Lindsay Kagalis, Lauren Hill and Allison Throckmorton. Catherine leaves behind one sister, Edith Simbles, residing in Texas; and one brother, Howard Lacks, residing in South Boston, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lacks of South Boston; one sister and three brothers. A retiree of Dominion Virginia Power, Catherine devoted her time to the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron to the Naomi Chapter in Highland Springs, Va. She enjoyed her spiritual growth as a member of Sandston Baptist Church and received great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, at Sandston Baptist Church, 100 W. Williamsburg Road, Sandston. Entombment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Cancer Institute or Sandston Baptist Church.
