DANIEL, A. Harris, 87, of Blackstone, Va. died Friday, October 24, 2008. He is the widower of Phyllis Rancke Daniel. Harris is survived by a son, Harris W. Daniel and his wife, Patricia of Williamsburg; grand-daughter, Meredith D. Ensign and her husband, Will; grandson, Liam Ensign, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, Arthur Radcliff Daniel Jr. and his wife, Eva of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and a sister, Dorothy D. France of Uniontown, Ohio. He served as a Major in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of the Blackstone VFW Post #7897. He was a retired Administrator for the Virginia United Methodist Assembly Center, having worked for 33 years and retiring in 1990. He was past President of the Blackstone Lions Club. Harris was also past President of T.P.A. (Traveler's Protection Association) Virginia Division and the former President of the National T.P.A. He was Past Master of the Blackstone Lodge #79 A.F. & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master of 27th Masonic District, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter #63 and thrice Illustrious Master of Grand Council of Virginia. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 200 Church St. in Blackstone with burial to follow with Masonic Rites at Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd., Bus. Hwy. 460 near Blackstone. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Donor Service Center, P.O. Box 97151, Washington D.C. 20077-7328. My deepest sympathy to the family of Harris Daniel. As president of TPA,
Harris came to Texas for a convention. I met him at that time and he never forgot my name when we met at later conventions. I will miss this true gentleman.

A quiet gentleman of faith as a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church. a team player for good relationships. an honored National President and Virginia President of The Travelers Protective Association Of America and for his fraternal members in that Association's Blackstone ,Va. Post. his leadership will be missed ,but, assuredly his respect in that community will inspire others to step forward for the community good.
