Doris Sankey Obituary

SANKEY, Doris C., 70, wife and grandmother, passed away on October 21, 2008 at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville, N.J. She was a resident of Mine Hill, N.J. for 42 years. She was born in Chester, Va. to James and Irene Clark. She graduated from Carver High School in Chester and Tuskege University in May of 1959 with a B.S. degree in physical education and health. She taught in the Dover (N.J.) Public Schools for 34 years and retired in June 1996. Her motto for the students of Dover was "What's good for the goose is good for the gander." She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Washington E. Sankey; one son, Ronald E. Sankey and fianc‚e, Robbin Nichols; and her son, Michael Nichols of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Gavin and Alexis Sankey of Atlanta, Ga.; her brother, Edwin and wife, Barbara Clark; and sisters-in-law, Vivian and Jean Clark of Richmond, Va., Delores Sankey Eaton of Durham, N.C., Fannette Sankey Ball and Carolann Sankey of Los Angeles, Calif., Myrtle Sankey Moore of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers-in-law, Herbert Eaton of Durham, N.C. and Harrell Moore of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at Tuttle Funeral Home, State Route 10 West, Randolph, N.J. Visitation is on Monday, October 27, from to 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, N.C. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to a charity of your choice.
