Marcelle Williams was born June 14, 1950 in Lake City, South Carolina to the late Otto and Lillie
Barr Singletary. She is the 11 th born of 13 children. She was married to the late Alvin E. Williams
on May 16, 1977 in Reno, Nevada, their union gave birth to 2 children Virgil and Kristin. She
passed away at home peacefully on March 29, 2025 surrounded by her children.
Marcelle spent her childhood in Lake City alongside her siblings. She graduated from Carver
High School in 1968. She continued her college education in Philadelphia, PA, she worked at
Pennsylvania Hospital as a secretary, from there she worked at Woolworth as a supervisor until
they closed. She furthered her education and became a paralegal, then worked with multiple
law firms until she retired.
Marcelle was preceded in death by her mother Lillie Barr, father Otto Singletary, husband Alvin
E. Williams, brother George Singletary and 4 sister's Maebel Cameron, Betty J. Jones, Jettie Mae
Davis and Elizabeth Graham. She is survived by her 2 children her son Virgil (Ebony) out of
Columbus, IN and Kristin her daughter out of Philadelphia, PA. 7 Sisters Dinah S. White, Eloise
Singletary, Carolyn Singletary and Sylvenia McCutcheon all of Lake City, SC. Eddie M. (Hazard)
Cameron of Scranton, SC, Mary L. Graham of Hemingway, SC and Isabelle Maple of Orangeburg,
SC, 1 Sister and Brother-in-Law Verna Brown of Philadelphia, PA and Carl Williams of
Norristown, PA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marcelle loved travelling until she could travel no more. She was one of a kind and all those she
has touched throughout this walk of life will always have those warm memories that will last
them a lifetime. She was kind, caring and compassionate and never met a person that needed
something she would never say no and was always there with a helping hand.
