FRED AND I WERE ROOMMATES AT BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE OUR JUNIOR YEAR AND LIVED IN WRIGHT WEST, 2ND FLOOR. FRED WAS A GOOD MAN AND ROOMMATE WHO WOULD GIVE YOU THE SHIRT OFF HIS BACK IF YOU NEEDED IT. HE ALWAYS STOOD UP FOR WHAT WAS RIGHT AND HELPED THOSE WHO NEEDED HELP. I HAVEN'T SEEN FRED FOR MANY YEARS BUT HIS DEATH LEAVES ME FEELING EMPTY AND SAD. FRED WILL BE MISSED BY ALL THOSE WHO WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE KNOWN HIM

Dear Family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Fred's passing and of your loss. He has been on my mind and I guess I knew that he must have passed.
My children and I rented the house on Belfort Drive from him until December of last year. He was very kind to us and understanding of the very difficult position in which we found ourselves. I will always remember him and his kindness.

I was also a classmate of Fred's at Bridgewater College during those most interesting years of the late 60's and early 70's. I hadn't seen him in a long time until the reunion last fall, and I have to say, he still had the gift to crack me up. He was a lovely man and I will miss him. My dearest condolences to his family.

I was Fred's processor at Virginia First Mortgage; I miss his straight-shooting, sometimes irascible, fun-loving personality. If you were fortunate enough to meet Fred, you had an instant friend - there were no strangers in his world! I enjoyed making him laugh (he had a world-class laugh!) & he was one of the hardest working people I've ever known. My heart goes out to all of his family & friends - may you find joy & comfort in the knowledge that he touched so many lives & was very much loved.

Fred was a good friend of my late husband and myself during our years at Bridgewater College. He and I had worked on our most recent reunion, 10/07, and it was good to see him there, with his usual smile and cheerful disposition. He leaves behind an abundance of great memories, both from BC and the years that followed. His family will remain in my thoughts.

I was a classmate of Fred's at Bridgewater College, and most recently saw him at our 35th reunion in October 2007. Despite his serious illness, he was in high spirits. He was a class person, and he will be missed.

Your dad had a smile that would light up the room. I work at the front desk at Virginia Cancer Institute and he always had a joke or something funny to say. He will be missed.

Lindsay & Andrew - So many memories. I had the good fortune to watch you grow from children into beautiful young adults. I will always remember the times we shared on your back deck with your family having a cold beer and whatever Fred was cooking on the grill. I can see Erin tearing across the yard and Fred picking her up and tossing her in the air (Hot Dog)!! And the time that the classroom hamster met an untimely demise and Daddy was at work - who did we call?.....Fred. It was an honor to have him as a great neighbor and friend. I will forever cherish the memories and wish you much love and heartfelt sympathy. Patty Bero

To Freds children, I was Freds hairdresser for many years and had some wonderful conversations with him, mostly about his grandchildren and how much he loved them and the good times he had with them. He was a wonderful man and I will miss his smile.
