Calvin Augustus "Doc" Setliff

SETLIFF, Calvin Augustus "Doc," 93, of Highland Springs, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 29, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Setliff. He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Lorraine Parker; five grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Parker of San Diego, Calif., Doris P. Woodward and husband, Steven, of Richmond, Betty P. Kessock of Louisville, Colo., Rose Marie Parker and Joseph B. Parker, Jr., both of Waverly, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Anne Parnell, Elizabeth Mae Parnell, Alex P. Kessock, Taylor M. Kessock; numerous nieces and nephews. Master Sgt. Setliff was a decorated retiree of the U.S. Air Force, with prior service in the Marine Corps, where he served on naval carriers in the U.S. Army during World War II and with the Air Force in the Korean conflict. He was a retired carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member and deacon at New Bridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2008 at the Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. Dr. John Cheyne officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston.
