PARRISH, Rebecca Blanton, 84, of Columbia, entered Heaven on October 30, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, Eddie Parrish Jr.; her sister, Lucy Clyde Blanton; and her brother, Robert Blanton. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Martha Blanton and Marion Herndon; cousins, Rebecca Trice, Coffman Walton, Vernon Walton; her son, Edward Parrish III and his wife, Jane; daughter, Sara Reed and her husband, Ron; daughter, Nancy Parrish; daughter, Sally Southall; Glenna Tibbs; Stephen Southall; Eileen Ford; beloved grandchildren, great-granddaughters, relatives and countless friends. Rebecca graduated as valedictorian from Hamilton High School, Cumberland, studied at Longwood College and earned her nursing degree from Stuart Circle Hospital of RPI. She served as minister's wife, leader in the Christian Church of Virginia (Disciples of Christ), Christian Women's Fellowship and public health nurse. Most importantly, she was dearly beloved by us all for her gentleness, her unfailing love, her unwavering belief in us, her constant support and care. We miss her smile, her twinkling eyes and her Christian spirit. A memorial service will be held at Elpis Christian Church on Saturday, November 8, at 11 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rebecca B. Parrish Educational Scholarship Fund, c/o Elpis Christian Church, 2703 Elpis Church Road, Maidens, Va. 23102.
