Marian McDonald Obituary

McDONALD, Marian Smith, a retired psychotherapist, died on November 11, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Marian worked in the mental health field in the Richmond, Va. area for more than 25 years, first with the Commonwealth of Virginia and then in private practice. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Marian was a key contributor in starting the Richmond Forum which became so successful that it outgrew the church capacity and continues to be an outstanding program in the Richmond area. Marian moved to Ginger Cove in Annapolis, Md. in February 2006 where she is well known for her considerable skills at the bridge table and her volunteer work in the health center. She was an avid reader, followed politics with a passion, and loved spending time with family and friends, discussing the important things about life. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Morton and Margaret Jackson; granddaughter, Lindsey Ellerson; son-in-law, Edward Jackson; sister, Margaret Seagle; and nieces, Leigh Seagle and Sara Agnello. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Friendship Hall, Ginger Cove, 4000 River Crescent Drive, Annapolis, Md.
