Marye Robinson Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Dec. 1, 2008.
ROBINSON, Marye Covington, of Hopewell, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Marye was 84 years old. She was one of 12 children raised by her mother and father, Parthenia and Willie Covington. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles W. "Robbie" Robinson, who was her devoted care-giver for the past 10 years; her daughter, Gwendolyn Willard and husband, Marshall, of Richmond; her daughter-in-law, Julie Robinson of Chester; and sisters, Marjorie Covington of Ashland and June Hundley of Seabrook, Texas. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Charles Jerry Robinson. Marye will be dearly missed by friends and family and lovingly remembered as a deeply devoted wife and mother who always thought of others first and asked for very little for herself. Her talents were many and especially evident as a self-taught artist, accomplished seamstress, and outstanding cook. For many years Marye enjoyed a successful career as a Sales Manager with Miller and Rhoads, in Petersburg, where she was recognized for her excellence in sales and service. She was a dedicated member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell until Parkinson's complications kept her at home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bermuda Hundred Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley, Mayo Clinic in support of Parkinson's Research, Dept. of Development, P.O. Box 450, Albert Lea, Minn. 56007-9849 or your favorite charity. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

I will miss Marye so much. She was like a Mom to me and my life has forever been changed just because she was in it.
