SLUSHER, Miss Edith P., 90, formerly of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2008 in Richmond. She was born January 25, 1918 in Floyd County, to Roger Oliver Slusher and Pearl Sutphin Slusher. During World War II, she worked for the War Department in Washington and later retired from the Defense Department at Bellwood. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Chapter R, P.E.O. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Robert N. Shelor (Mary Lou); and brother, R.O. Slusher Jr. Survivors include sisters, Mrs. Hugh Simmons (Neva) of Willis, Miss Ruth Ann Slusher of Floyd and Mrs. Robert L. McDanel (Judy) of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Maberry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Avenue, Richmond, Va. or Willis United Methodist Church, 5671 Floyd Highway S., Willis, Va., 24380.
