Juanita Slusher Obituary
Juanita grew up in Royse City and graduated from high school before beginning her career as a secretary with Mobil Oil, where she worked faithfully for many years. She carried herself with a quiet, reserved nature, yet those who knew her best will remember her as a happy-go-lucky woman who found joy in the simple things of life.
She was an avid fan of game shows, with Wheel of Fortune being her favorite, and could often be found cheering on contestants from her living room. She also enjoyed tending to her many plants, spending time in her garden, and never turned down a refreshing Dr. Pepper. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a longtime member of the Baptist church.
On March 25, 1965, Juanita married the love of her life, Travis Slusher, and together they built a marriage filled with devotion until his passing on April 30, 2001. She cherished their years together and carried his memory lovingly throughout her life.
Juanita is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Travis; her parents, O. Dooley and Thelma Miller; and her nephew, Kevin Vaughn. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Ivy, and her husband Leon.
A public gathering and time of visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2025, in Reflections Chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home, located at, 2500 State Highway 66 East, Rockwall, TX, 75087.
A funeral service to honor the life of Juanita will immediately follow at 10:00 AM, also in Reflections Chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Lough officiating. Interment will take place after conclusion of the chapel service at Royse City Cemetery, located at 896-936 Cemetery Rd, Royse City, TX 75189, for those wishing to attend the committal.
Those wishing to send flowers for the service may do so by calling The Flower Box by Rest Haven at (972) 772-3269. Independent florists are kindly asked to deliver arrangements directly to Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall, by 8:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2025, in order for them to be set out and properly displayed for Juanita's services in a timely manner.
