WILL, Betty R., 81, of Richmond, passed away on December 5, 2008 after battling Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 54 years, Dr. Fritz Will III; son Fritz Will IV and his wife, Mary, of Richmond; daughter, Kathrine Rutledge and her husband, Charlie, of Woodbury, Conn.; sister-in-law, Kathrine Jacobson, of Beaufort, S.C.; and first cousin, Dorothy Webb and her husband, Bob, of Sumner, Wash. Betty was born and reared in Woodstock, Va., and was graduated from Mary Washington College in 1948. She then taught school in Chesterfield County, Va. until her marriage in 1954. A devoted wife and mother, she also was a substitute teacher at Midlothian High School in Chesterfield County for a number of years. Betty was an active member of the United Church of Christ all of her adult life, where she served on various committees and boards. She was the first female president of the Church Council of St. John's United Church of Christ in Richmond. Additionally, she was actively involved with Circle Center Adult Day Services, where she also served as president. The family will receive friends Monday, December 8, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at St. John's United Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 503 Stuart Circle, Richmond, Va. 23220; or Circle Center Adult Day Services, 3900 W. Broad St., Richmond, Va. 23230.

Our friendship goes way back to 1959, Alcoa and The Pittsburgh Conference: Your presidency and mine. We missed you and Betty these past few years. Be we have great memories of our Conference years together. Love, Mickey and Cynthia

Fritz: I just found out about Betty's passing and you have my deepest sympathy. I too lost my wife to breast cancer in 2001 and my 34 year old son in 2002.
