There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I know people say time heals all things but, to be honest I hurt just as much as I did that day. I know you want me to be strong and I try some days are harder than others. I will see you in my dreams and hold you in my heart forever. I love you and I will see you again when its my time.

I know it's time for us to let go and let you rest. But it's so hard when that reality hits......it's not the same without you, Big Daddy. You're still in my thoughts and I still talk to you with hopes that you can hear me. I miss you, I love you, and I know that when my time comes you will be one of the first to greet me. And that makes me smile.....

You're Gone
We won't spend Christmas together thoroughout the years, I had to wipe away all the tears. No more birthday parties,no more glee, I guess this is how it's going to have to be. I know your in a better place but look at all this you're missing, but all I can do is sit back reminiscing. You won't see me getting married nor watch my children grow, I can't believe it was your time to go. Mommy misses you too, and she can't believe that it's true. I miss you so much that you couldn't believe, how much a young girl could possible grieve. I will see you one day, beyond the sky, I wish that I got the chance to say goodbye. You're in my heart and your still my bestfriend, I cannot wait til I can see your face again.

Uncle Dwayne,
So many memories of us replay in my head, over and over again. I still can't believe your gone, it's been over a year, and day after day it seems to get a little bit easier and the pain eases away. I've called your phone a few times after your passing, but then realized it wasn't really you, just a little recording. I miss you so much it hurts, you just don't know how bad this hurts me. I know you are now looking over me, and i know your my guardian angel, but you were my bestfriend. You were always there for me, no matter what i did or how much trouble i had gotten into. You always had my back. You always made me smile, and did every little thing you could to make me happy. I can't wait to see you soon, i love you.

I was so sorry to hear about Dwaynes passing. I meet him a few years ago in Nags Head,N.C. on his vacations here. I just wanted to let his sister and nieces know that he loved you all more than anything in this world. Everytime he mentioned your names or talked about you he had a smile on his face that could light up the world. We will all miss him very much but just know he is now your angel and he will always watch over you.

Uncle Dwayne, this is a poem just for you that i wrote. There's not a day that goes by that i don't wish you were here and that i love you and miss you. My dear uncle so many thoughts, in my head. So many things left unsaid. You left that day, without a glance. Never knowing that god, wasnt giving you a second chance. What was in your head, the moments you had. I hope you thought happy thoughts not sad. No one can ever take your place. Your image in my heart will never be erased. As you smile on me from up above. My mind is still sad but my heart is filled with love. I love you my dear uncle you meant the world to me. I'll always make you proud of me you will see. I miss you so much wish you were here. Your always gonna be in my heart forever.

Dwayne, it is hard to believe that it has been a little over a year since you passed. Not a day goes by that we do not miss you. Our lives are changed forever and as time goes by we realize how fortunate we were to have such a true, caring, and trusting "friend". Calling you a "friend" does not even seem right. When you passed, our whole world changed. Thank you for being you and for letting us have the pleasure of trully knowing you inside and out. Rest in Peace, our brother. You will always be in our hearts. The Shipps

My thoughts and prayers to Dwayne's family and friends. Dwayne, we will never understand why our time was cut so short. You lived your life with drive and ambition that most people do not attempt. The stories of your travels and what you took from those experiences were humorous and the laugh you let out memorable. Thank you Dwayne for being you. Thank you for a friendship that will be deeply missed. Your caring soul, humorous ways, and love for comic books will be remember by us all.

I was very shocked to hear about Dwayne's passing. I worked with him for several years at Capital One. He always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude that was contagious. He will be greatly missed - the world is now a slightly lesser place.

To the Collins family... I am truly shocked and saddened about the passing of Dwayne. I knew him from his weekly visits to my comic book store and came to hear stories and future hopes about his career move to Texas. We used to swap stories about his exploits while on the road. We shared his love of his hobby of comic books and found him to be a delight and funny. My staff and I are missing him as he was to be in the store any day..... we are saddened.

Dwayne and I shared many laughs and practical jokes. He always knew how to make me laugh and wasn't afraid to tell me when I was getting on his nerves. Our friendship means the world to me.

Dwayne, as you look down on us, know that you are loved and missed by everyone whose lives you touched. I will keep my fond memories of you close to my heart. Until we meet in heaven...
All my love,

To Dwayne's family & friends:
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I had the honor of working with Dwayne at Capital One many years ago, and was fortunate to continue a friendship with him since then. Dwayne always added humor and energy to anything he did. I cruised with him a few years back and attended the Nags Head outings for a couple of years, and I have was gifted with so many fond memories because of Dwayne.
He was truly loved by many, many people and will always be missed and remembered.

To Dwayne's Family,

Be proud of Dwayne...never a harsh word about anyone; never said no to a challenge or assignment; reached out to others with help or friendship; brought joy to those around him through his passion for whatever he did.

I had the pleasure of having Dwayne on my team at Capital One. He is missed.

To all of Dewayne's family, Jane & I have you in our thoughts and prayers. Reading the many messages that has been writen by the friends, collagues, and family members, there is no doubt that the world was blessed to have had a person such as Dewayne in it. I have attached a poem that I hope will give to each of you some strength in the days ahead as you adjust to life without such a wonderful person in it.

Not now but in the coming years
It may be in that better land
We’ll read the meaning of our tears
And there sometime we’ll understand

We’ll catch the broken thread again
And finish what we here began
Heaven will the mysteries explain
And then ah then we will understand

We’ll know why clouds instead of sun
Were over many cherished plan
Why songs have ended yet just begun
Up there sometime we will understand

Why what we long for most of all
Eludes so often our eager plan
Why hopes are crushed and castles fall
In heaven someday we will understand

God knows the way he holds the key
He guides us with his unerring hand
Someday with tearless eyes we’ll see
Yes there in heaven we will understand

Trust in God through all these days
Fear not for he holds your hand
For there in heaven someday we will understand

I am very devestated and sad to be signing this guest book. I was just informed of the very sad news today and the cloud that lingers over me is simply filled with pure sorrow. Dwayne was a mentor, a best friend and the best boss I could have ever asked for in a million years. It's interesting how our relationship evolved over the years. I could count on him for anything and that I will never forget him for. He was always there for me no matter what. I will cherish every conversation we had and have fond memories of what a family man he was! He loved his Mom, Sister and dear neices more than anything! I loved hearing his stories about the girls! Especially when they were younger. He had the look of pure delight when he spoke of them and all you could hear was this insanely proud Uncle talking about his beautiful neices!

If I was feeling sad, he made me happy. If I was under the weather, he made me laugh. He was that one friend that you always wished for....with that said, I will miss him dearly. Marvin Dwayne Collins- you were a legacy and I hope that I can be half the woman that were a man! Much love to you!

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

Dwayne was the type of person who could always make me smile. I have many fond memories of him way back in high school. One of my favorites was a very long day in Warsaw at the regional science fair. May God dispense his Angels to Dwayne's family and friends to help them get through this tragic time. Just remember to lean not on your own understanding and have Faith, as God knows best. Didn't know Dwayne that well, but I could tell that he was a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky fella. Also, his co-workers think the world of him, which speaks for itself. I pray that he's now sitting on high with the Almighty Father, awaiting our homecoming.

To God be the Glory.

My thoughts and prayers are with you for the loss of Dwayne. Dwayne and I have been friends for many years after meeting at Capital One when he was in Fredericksburg. Due to working in different areas/locations, there would sometimes be long periods of time when I wouldn't get to see Dwayne. Regardless how long it had been, Dwayne was the type of person you instantly reconnected with as if no time had passed. Dwayne and I mostly shared a high level of sarcasm with each other. He was such an authentic individual and always showed interest and caring for others. We had just ate lunch together a couple of weeks ago and discussed his upcoming move and his plans in Texas. I am shocked and saddened that I won't get a chance to see my friend again. I am only comforted to know he is in a better place.

To all of Dwayne's family,
Your son was a great colleague and friend. I had the pleasure of working closely with Dwayne for two years and he was the heart and soul of the team--always laughing and ensuring we took the time to keep each other informed. To Dwayne's Family - Know that your Son, Grandson, Brother and Uncle and was loved by so many people here at Capital One and everywhere he went in life. He had an infectious personality of happiness that followed him. People remember his kind heart, gentle nature and that laugh that could fill a room. We remember that he wanted to be the "tough guy" but his tender, sweet nature wouldn't allow it. Know he is in Heaven, watching over us, cracking jokes and we can close our eyes and see his beautiful smile and hear that laugh. Dwayne, I cannot wait to see you on the other side my friend. I have such fond memories of Dwayne from high school and attending RCC together. He was such a fun-loving, kind person. He always had a laugh to share. I am sorry I did not get to visit with him in the past few years, but I am glad we stayed in touch. My prayers go out to all the family and many people who had the privilege of calling Dwayne a friend.

I cannot express the shock I am still in days later hearing of this tragic news. Dwayne has the kindest soul and will be missed terribly. It is just like him to try to get the class of '92 back together and it looks like that might be happening later this week. Unfortunate for the circumstances but Dwayne-- you will be in all our thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Dwayne for years at Capital One. He was such a hard working, nice, caring, and very funny guy. He loved playing practical jokes on his co-workers to keep the work environment more fun. We also got him a few times with some good practical jokes. Everyone loved being around Dwayne. The news of his death has been a huge shock across Capital One, which is a testament to how Dwayne built friendships and relationships in his day to day work. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Wow...I am shocked. I'm remembering Senior year, sitting in the last row in Mr. Rosenthal's Government class and Dwayne, Sean, Sandy and I would have our own little discussion everyday...it was the best times. My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends. God will you see through this time of bereavement.
