Samuel Anderson Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Dec. 12, 2008.
ANDERSON, Samuel Lewis Jr. "Junior," 77, of Warsaw, Va., went to be with his Lord on December 10, 2008. He was a retired farmer, who dearly loved to till the soil and care for his cattle. For most of his life, he was a member of Welcome Grove Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent, assistant teacher of the Adult Men's Class, choir member, and as a helper in whatever capacity the church needed him. He was a life member of the Richmond County Rescue Squad and for 25 years served the county as a member of various farm-related boards, including the Farm Service Agency. He was a kind, generous, and modest man, who always put the needs of others before his own. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Peggy S. Anderson; a daughter, Kimberly A. Minor and husband, Jimmy; five grandchildren, Mallory, Ashton, Kirsten, Austin and Reed Minor; a sister, Louise A. Withers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Welcome Grove Baptist Church, 7368 Newland Road, Warsaw, Va., with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel, 10300 Richmond Road, Warsaw, Va., from 6 to 8 this evening (Friday). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond County Fire Department Co. #3 (Newland Station) in care of Glenn A. Morse, Treasurer, 1033 Jones Creek Rd., Warsaw, Va. 22572. Online condolences may be made to www.welchfuneralhomeva.com.

We were so saddened to learn of Junior's passing. He ws such a kind and caring man, always smiling and asking about your family's well being every time you met and said hello. Junior is now a member of the heavenly choir.
