Beirne F. Carroll Jr.

CARROLL, Beirne F. Jr., 81, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ellen; five stepchildren, Peter and Julie Crisp of Fredericksburg, Jim Crisp of Ashland, Roger and Cindy Crisp of Beaverdam, Rose Wright and Joe Hall of Ashland, Anita and Brian Thomas of King William; four grandchildren, Dustin, Austin, Justin and Ashtyn; one sister, Marion Kyle of Sandston; five nieces, Brenda, Paula, Robin, Tammy and Pansy; and special companion, his dog, Mess Pot. A special thank you to Bill Carroll for all his help and support. Mr. Carroll was a retired employee of the federal government. He grew flowers for many years for Coleman Brothers Florist and was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nelsen Funeral Home's Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Alzheimer's Foundation.
