Nellie B. Johnson

JOHNSON, Nellie B., 89, of Farmville, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Woodland. She was the daughter of the late James T. Baker and Elizabeth Foster Baker. She is survived by her husband, William E. Johnson; daughter, Peggy Michener and husband, Curtis; son, William Ronald Johnson; sister, Virginia B. Welch; four grandchildren, Lucy J. Elder and husband, Ricky, Linwood F. Johnson Jr. and wife, Tara, Bonnie J. Primm and husband, Matt, and Robert E. Johnson; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Linwood Frank Johnson; sisters, Anne B. Beasley and Elizabeth B. Phelps; and a brother, William R. Baker. She was a former member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va., and present member of Farmville Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Alpha Chapter # 1 Order of the Eastern Star, Petersburg, Va. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 17, at 11 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, is serving the family.
