James William Butler

BUTLER, James William, 87, of Petersburg passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Butler and Sarah Ella Garrett Butler; brothers, Thomas, George, and John Butler; and his sisters, Mary Jinnett and Louise Wellington. Mr. Butler served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II, retired from the Utility Department of the City of Petersburg, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a former member of Crater View Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gladys H. Butler; son, James R. Butler; and daughter, Linda C. Butler. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2009 at the funeral home.
