NICHOLS, Mr. Richard O., Sr. ,"Dickie", formerly of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2009 in New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Nichols Sr. and Lucille E. Nichols; and one brother, James A. Nichols Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Sarah Nichols; two children, Richard O. Nichols Jr. and Ranita N. Johnson (Michael); two grandchildren, Malcolm and Anthony Johnson; two brothers, Walter (Alpha) and Keith (Mana) Nichols; four sisters, Rose Munford, Jean Clarke, Mary Marrow (Thomas) and Naomi Montgomery (Arthur); one brother-in-law, Curtis Parrott; aunt, Martha I. Wright; two uncles, Martin Monroe and William (Ora Mae) Lomax; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Upon arrival, remains will rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St., where the family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m to 12 noon followed by graveside services at 12:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery.
