Hey, Pop. I wrote you the other day and I must have forgotten to hit the submit bottom, silly me. You were one of the greatest prayer warriors that ever lived and we love and miss you so very much. Bubbu has not been doing well, but I am doing my best to take care of him and keep him around for a long long time. He is a good man and I love him very much. Life down here gets confusing sometimes. But you helped us learn how to lean and depend on Jesus. I can still hear you say,"pray about it, Jack." And Pop I have learned how to hold on to the horns of the altar. Thank you for everything. You were a wonderful man. With much love always.

Hello Dad,
On your home going anniversary
(Feb 2, 2010), Thank you for all of the telephone calls and conversations,
Thank you for all of the corrections, bitter and sweet, you gave me as a child.
Thank you for all of the prayers you prayed for me and my family, especially
the one you prayed walking around our lot in 1999, asking the Lord to make it easy for us.
I will never forget that prayer.
Thank you for demanding that I go to Sunday School and church,
Thank you for the discipline you provided throughout my life,
Thank you for molding me to be a disciple of Christ.
You demonstrated a life of love and generosity. I know you are eternally with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
No more pain, no more sorrow, no more fear.
Thank you Dad, for all of the wisdom and understanding you left behind for me. Thank you, Thank you Pop.
I will miss you very much, but I will see you again. See you buddy.

Hey my two loving men, Thurman Sr and Thurman Jr, I sure miss you both Is there any doubt that I love you two. Dad, I know that in the natural we cant see the spiritual; but, I would like to know what you, Dad,my brother Sonny, Bro Hudson, Aunt Ida, Uncle William, Aunt Emily, Aunt Dean, Aunt Lillie, Uncle Mose, Elder Dunlap, Sister Elenora, Uncle Red, I just want to know what you all are doing up in glory. Whoo,/// Lord all you santified, holy ghost filled folks who knew how to praise God here, Lord, just think, what are you all doing up there? Dad, I can see that hand moving and that legs going and you in that crouched position searching for that soul, and once the Lord lead you to that soul, you anointed that head and before long, they were slained in the spirit then I heard you saying, in the spirit a holy laughter Ha,Ha,Ha,then, yes Lord, Yes,Lord, Yes,Lord, soon you would go in a cutting, dancing, stomping step for the Lord. Oh yes, then you Sonny, dancing a bit, then stopping, then dancing again, Hudson,I can hear you singing I promised the Lord that I would hold out, Aunt Ida, Uncle William,Aunt Emily I can see you praising the Lord, shaking in the spirit, Aunt Lillie, I can see you dancing in the Lord and before long you are slain in the spirit, and out you go. Uncle Moses, Lord, you and that guitar in the corner of the church, far be it, Aunt Dean, Lord, you were a prayer warrior, did you pray with us until we were delivered, and Elder and Sister Dunlap, our teachers, mentors and watchers of our young souls. What a memory of such saintly people. Yes, I miss you but these thoughts of you will keep me going, and going and going just like the energized bunny .And I am so thankful for these memories. You left a legacy Dad,an insurmountable one.

Daddy, sweet daddy, my friend, my mentor and the one that I love so dearly. I miss you sorely. My eyes are filled but my heart is not heavy for I know that you were a heavenly warrior. You took care of mom until death parted you, you loved us so that we feel your sweetness, your dedication and your fatherly instinct all within. I was your first daughter and I was shown so much love and protection and you taught me how to love, how to pray, how to be a servant, how to treat your mate and what to look for in a mate. You showed me what is was like to live a saved, holy ghost filled life and I appreciate that. You have shown me how a husband loves his wife, how he cherishes her, supports her and provides for her. Dad, you were the best. I loved caring for you, I thank God that I could take care of you as you look care of me. Thanks dad, now rest, we will take care of mom for you. Believe that.

To the Bridges Family,
My heart was truly sadden at the departure of a true prayer warrior and mighty man of God, yet I also rejoice in his arrival into that heavenly city. I know your pain is great right now but believe me when I say...this too shall pass. I remember when I lost my dad (Deacon Boykin Hudson) who was a dear friend of your father's and the great pain that was felt, and eventhough it seemed like the pain would never end, it did and so will yours. I remember Deacon as being one of the greatest prayer warriors that ever lived. Boy could he pray!!! I remember the many times me and Hope rode to church with him(doing 2mph). Be encourage my cousins and know that he is in a much better place and take comfort that there is no more suffering.

Mother Bridges, Linda, Terraine, Kim, Yvette & the entire Bridges Family:
When I think of Dea. Bridges, my mind goes back to the revival services we use to have at St. Marks when all of the young people were on the alter and Dea. Bridges would be right down there "tarrying" with us. Praying with, and for, us. He was a "prayer warrior!" He was a kind and gentle spirit and I will cherish my memories of him.
Remember, "earth has no sorrow, that heaven cannot heal."
I pray for your continued strength during this difficult time.

To my dear friend Kim and family...I'm writing with mixed emotions. I can remember your dad as I spent many days in your home on South Meadow Street. He was quite the disciplinarian. He reminded me a lot of my dad. Your parents always made me feel welcomed in their home....I was just another "daughter" there. I can see him right now even as I often attended church services with the family at St Mark. What wonderful memories. The bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I thank God today for allowing Mr. Bridges to touch my life. Servant of God well done! My prayer is that God continue to bless and keep each of you both now and ever more. Please accept condolences on behalf of the entire Whitaker family! All my love, Gina

When Jesus was on the earth he demostrated that he had the power to raise the dead, and before ascended to Heaven he told he discipes at Matthew 28:18 he said that all authority has been given him in heaven and on earth. The bible at John 5:28 said that the hour is coming when all in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (Jesus) and will come out. We find these words very comforting because it is telling us that we can see Thurman Bridges again for John 5:29 a sure us that there will be a resurrection of righteous and the unrighteous.
Thurman was the Brother of by late father Waverly P. Bridges. Our family feel the lost along with you.

Granddaddy,
With you gone, I have lost loved ones from three generations - all of whom were firsts. You were my Nanny's first and only love. My father - your first born. My sister - your first grandchild. I will always remember your gentle nature and easy smile. I will always remember how you loved your family and your "Lil Beth". While I may never be married to anyone for 69 years - I only hope to experience with my husband a fraction of the love and devotion that you had for my Nanny.
Thank you Granddaddy for loving me. I love you and I will miss you terribly.

Godma,
I can’t comprehend just how sad you must feel For the loss of someone you love.
This sorrowful time must still feel unreal And you’re looking for strength from above.
I hope, from my heart, that your pain will decrease,That your spirit will gain strength again,
And I pray that your faith will create inner peace And that God will send blessings--
Till then, if you need me to lighten your load, I’m waiting to come to your aid. Just call on me, and I’ll walk down that road, Until the dark times start to fade....
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of bereavement. I love you!
