I miss her still. There are times when she is the only one I want to tell my news; she's the only one who would understand. I was lucky to have such a good friend.

One year to the day of Hester's passing, thoughts of her continue to come to mind at any given moment and I smile and cry - she will never be forgotten - she was such a great loss to all. Sleep on Dear Hester.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, come to me. With tearful eyes we watched and saw you pass away. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

Bob:
I was very fortunate to meet Hester at an HR function a couple of years ago. I was shocked to hear of her death and want to let you know I was thinking of you.
My deepest sympathies

Bob.. You were so blessed to have such an amazing woman for the time that you did. We know that one day the memories will bring smiles and not tears. Time will heal the pain.. when you feel sad, remember that God has added another beautiful star to the night sky... always remember that Hester is smiling at you from Heaven and wants you to find peace and happiness.

I was fortunate to have worked with Hester on a lengthy QA Program for Philip Morris. We developed a friendship, which, unfortunately, time and distance caused to fade. But I have never forgotten her, and always hoped our paths would cross again some day. Maybe they will, in heaven.
Hold on to the wonderful memories of this most lovely person.

I know this is corny but writing silly poems was something we used to have fun doing together when the occasion called for it. This is the one I put in her card when she finished her Phd.
Ode to Hester
I thought that I would write a song,
Or pen a clever verse
But all the things I tried to do
Sounded a wee bit terse.
What in the world do you rhyme with Hester
And for rhymes, Dr. Dorer’s no godsend
Mrs. Harrison doesn’t inspire my prose
So I guess this just goes to ‘my friend’.
What do you say to a wonder woman
Who reaches all her dreams
Who finishes every thing she starts
And takes passion to new extremes.
My friend is always up for adventure
And she brightens my days with her laughter
But now that she’s finished with this little jaunt
The logical question’s ‘Whats after?’
What’s after the long days of trooping to school
Of papers and text books and tests,
My guess is that our girl will find a new passion
She’s sure not a body that rests!
Maybe she’ll write a best selling novel
Or maybe she’ll moonlight for Landmark
She can do anything that she turns her hands to
And she won’t leave us long in the dark.
Anyday now we’ll see that old twinkle return
The one that says Hester’s inspired
There’s one just beyond that wild look in her eye
And it won’t wait until she’s retired.
No, not our girl Hester – she can’t sit for long
The grass doesn’t grow neath Her feet
There’s too much to see and too much to do
And too many challenges to meet.
Through the good times and bad times of life at PM
We’ve shared some good laughs and some tears,
And I seem to recall on some really bad days
We’ve hoisted our own share of beers!
I’m so proud of you Hester and all the things that you’ve done
And this well deserved title – Dr. Dorer,
I wish for you all the best life has to give
And to be called your friend evermore.

Robert, I know Hester gave you 23 years of great happiness - she truly was your soulmate. I'm so glad she became part of our family and we got to enjoy her wonderful personality in travels to Greece, England and while visiting Richmond. Hester was very gracious, always smiling - very dear, very lovely, very dearly loved - she touched our hearts. We will all miss her. My thoughts are with you now and in the time ahead.
With much love from your sister Karen.

Hester was such a beautiful person inside, and out. She could lift the spirits of those that surrounded her just by her presence. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
