Marion Karsten Nelson

NELSON, Marion Karsten, 90, of Midlothian, died Friday, February 13, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William E. Nelson; two daughters, Sandy Nelson Stegner and her husband, Jim, Beth Nelson and her husband, Gary Ryczek; two grandchildren, Kristin Scales and her husband, Chris, Eric Stegner and his wife, Colleen; and two great-grandchildren, Eric and Jalyn Scales. Mrs. Nelson was a resident at the Brandermill Woods Community since 2004. She was born in Chicago and lived in Illinois until retiring to North Carolina where she lived in Chapel Hill and Pinehurst until moving to Midlothian. As a young woman Marion was the organist at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago. She was active in the Infant Welfare Society and other volunteer organizations for many years. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, at the Brandermill Woods Retirement Community Meeting Room, 14311 Brandermill Woods Trail. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
