Charles Chinn Obituary

CHINN, Charles Emory "Chummy", was born in Frederick, Md., June 30, 1927, and departed this life on Sunday, February 15, 2009. He was raised and educated in Sandston, Va. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. After an honorary discharge, he worked for E. I. DuPont Cellophane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrol and Elma Chinn; two brothers, Lt. James R. Chinn and Robert Motley Chinn. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ada K. Chinn; one son, James R. Chinn and daughter-in-law, Linda, of Stevensville, Mont.; three daughters, Sandra Potter and son-in-law, Wayne, Jenny Boswell and son-in-law, Mike, and Grace Elaine Vosburg, all from Henrico, Va. Chummy had five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a member of the Sandston Presbyterian Church and the American Legion, Post 242. He enjoyed many fishing trips to the Outer Banks with his buddies. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 20, 2009, at Washington Memorial Park at 11 a.m. The family will receive guests at a reception at the Sandston Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 13 N. Confederate Avenue, Sandston, Va., immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Virginia.
