Wanda Perkins Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Mar. 7, 2009.
PERKINS, Wanda Hope, 46, of Goochland, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009. In loving memory of a mother, daughter, sister and friend, she accomplished many wonderful things in her life. But the most important thing she leaves behind is her strength. We lost her to cancer but she never gave up, she fought up until the end. She showed each of us what strength, endurance and "never give up" means. She leaves behind two children, a loving daughter, Elizabeth Hope Perkins, a wonderful son, Joseph Michael Perkins; understanding parents, mother, Betty Grace Fox, a father, Joseph F. Fox; a protective sister, Wilma Jean Tate; a wonderful love, Tony Rudder; her family from McKesson which had become long and many; her extended family which consisted of the Perkins, Foxes and Windhams; and family friends, and "her beloved dog, Rock." Her life always consisted of helping people and being there for her family, friends and loved ones; so we all wish you Godspeed where you can rest and be at peace and watch over each of us as we know you will never give up doing. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8 from 1 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. in the Nelsen Funeral Home - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

I worked with Hope many years ago at Best Products. This shocked me to hear of her illness and recent passing. Hope was always a happy fun loving person, and always so willing to assist others. May God Bless her friends and family through this difficult time. My prayers are with you all.

May the Good Lord take each of you into the palms of his hand, comfort you and release you to carry on the love and caring that Hope has shared with each of you. Although she is gone in the physical sense, the memories of love, family, and times shared will remain with you always. Our prayers and thoughts are with each and everyone of you. May God Bless you.
