Elizabeth Taylor Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home Central Chapel on Mar. 7, 2009.
TAYLOR, Elizabeth Pritchett, died on March 5, 2009, at the age of 97. Elizabeth, known as "Dee," was a longtime resident of Richmond and last resided at the Westport Health Care Center. Dee attended Westhampton College until 1929 when she returned to Danville, Virginia, married, and worked for Dan River Mills. In the early 1950s, she moved to Richmond, where she worked for Fay Cline Insurance Company and later for Colonial Pipeline until she retired. In addition to her work career, she raised two children, William P. Taylor and Elizabeth Carolyn Taylor, as a single parent with love and unselfish devotion. She also bestowed this devotion upon her grandchildren who loved her like a second mother. Her spare time was spent playing the piano and for many years she played for the Unitarian Church in Richmond. Music continued to be a peaceful retreat well into her 80s. In addition to her children: son, William (daughter-in-law, Dorothy) of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; and daughter, Carolyn of Topping, Virginia, she is survived by five grandchildren, Dominic Carpin, Elizabeth (Beth) Carpin Cashin, Carter Carpin Wellford, John Carpin and Ashley Taylor Nichols. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Bliley's, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. There will be a graveside service at Highland Burial Park in Danville, Virginia, on Monday, March 9, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Schools, 3100 Grove Ave., Richmond, Va. 23221.

My mother, Nancy Blair Robinson, grew up at Stony Mills and was very close to her cousins Dee, Pat and Buddy in Whitmell. I remember visiting Pat (and Chester) as a girl and seeing Dee who was always so full of good humor. Sad to see the last of a wonderful generation!

To The Taylor Family,

Be comforted in knowing that God is with you during this difficult time and that there are friends that also share your sorrow with you. I find Psalm 121 to be very comforting during these times.
