Samuel Berger Obituary

BERGER, Samuel N., 88, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009, at the Stratford Hall skilled nursing unit. He lived half the year in Tucson, Arizona, and half the year in Mechanicsville, Virginia, with his wife, Emily Purcell Berger. He served in the United States Army during World War II, disarming bombs and land mines. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in the late 1970s and had many years to fulfill his passion for world travel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Berger; and his first wife, Gertrude Berger. He is survived by his wife, Emily; his two children, David Berger and Susan Wallach; and his grandson, Aaron Wallach. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009, at the Cool Spring Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, the Alzheimer's Association and the Cool Spring Baptist Church.
