J. Hamilton Harris

HARRIS, J. Hamilton "Bone," 79, of Dillwyn, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Southside Community Hospital, in Farmville. He was born May 6, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Therie Newton Harris; and a brother, Alfred M. Harris. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jewel Duncan Harris; a son, Craig Hamilton Harris and wife, Shelia; grandson, Ryan Harris and wife, Melissa; stepgranddaughter, Brandi Loveday; stepgrandson, Jeremy Witt; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Frances Lester and Christine Thomas, both of Dillwyn, Anita French of Cumberland, Va. and Katie Mae Burnette of Fla.; one brother, John Ernest Harris of Charles City, Va., 14 nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, with interment in the Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home in Dillwyn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church Building Fund, 404 Thomas Rd., Dillwyn, Va. 23936. Dunkum Funeral Home of Dillwyn is in charge of arrangements.
