CHILDERS, Ruth Elizabeth, 87, of Prince George, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009. She was born in Natural Bridge, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Sidney Truman Thompson and Mary Mahood Thompson, and the widow of Ernest Woodward Childers. Survivors include a son, Wayne Sidney Childers and wife, Beckie, of Disputanta; a daughter, Bonnie Ruth Ericson and husband, Richard, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Elizabeth Childers, Richard Alan Ericson Jr., Brian Eric Ericson, and Kelly Elizabeth Ericson; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Delain Stables and Ryan Ericson; and a sister, Mary Katherine Lotts of Natural Bridge, Virginia. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 3935 S. Crater Road, with the Reverend Joseph Elmore officiating. Interment to follow Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Friday, August 21, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crowder Memorial Baptist Church, 3018 County Drive, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
