Maude Ransone Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Aug. 31 to Sep. 1, 2009.
RANSONE, Maude Poore, 94, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2009. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, John "Bill" E. Ransone. She is survived by her two sons, John Everett Jr. and his wife, Ellen, and Gerald and his wife, Diane; three grandchildren, Michael Lee Ransone and his wife, Emily, their children, Alexis and Andrew Logan, Amy Toler Small and her husband, Brad, and their daughter, Inara Grace and Ashley Fray Ransone. She is also survived by her dear sisters-in-law, Irene Ransone and Toler Clarke and her husband, Herbert; and many nieces and nephews. Maude graduated from State Teachers College (now J.M.U.) in 1935. Her love for teaching began in a one room school house near Rock Castle in Goochland, Va. and ended up substituting for many elementary schools in Henrico County. She was an active member of Chamberlayne Baptist Church and for many years she was an active member of UDC Continental-Maury Chapter. We want to thank the family of Dee Aleem, who along with her daughters, Keonna and Hanefa, cared for our mother for the last several years at the nursing home, The Laurels of University Park. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at The Laurels for caring for our mother. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, at the West Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.

Dear Richmond cousins,

We're so sorry to hear about Maude's passing. She and Bill were so special to our Mom and Dad—and to us—and we'll always have such fond memories of them both.

Our deepest sympathies to you all. You're in our thoughts.

With love,

Babe & Barbara's family—Ranse, Cindy, & Janis

Thinking of the entire Ransone family. A great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be missed - but I am sure you will find comfort in a long life of memories.
My special love to Gerald and Diane.

We have such wonderful memories of such a fine Southern Lady! It was a real pleasure to know both Mr. and Mrs. Ransone.
