Barbara Ransone Obituary
Barbara Roebuck Ransone, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 80. A lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, she lived a full and vibrant life that touched all who knew her.
Born on March 15, 1945, Barbara brought warmth, creativity, and resilience into the world. She shared 26 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Palmer Jack Ransone Sr. Together, they built a loving family that includes their children Anne Ransone Gunnell, Charles D. Ransone, and stepson Palmer Jack Ransone Jr. Barbara was the proud grandmother of Brad, Scotty, Charlie, and Claire, and a doting great-grandmother to Abby. She is also survived by her cherished sister Luann Gardner Epley, brother Robert Edward Gardner, and nieces Elizabeth and Caroline.
Barbara was a woman of many talents and endless determination. Over the years, she excelled in numerous careers-catering, restaurant management, real estate, and even as a checker in the International Longshoremen's Association-always bringing her signature spirit and work ethic to everything she did. A perfectionist in the kitchen, she was a gifted cook and a legendary hostess. Every event she touched was filled with warmth, joy, and unmatched attention to detail.
Her involvement with the Eastern Star was a testament to her deep commitment to community and service. Barbara's creative side flourished in her love for ceramics, a hobby she pursued with both passion and skill. Her fighting spirit, generosity, and boundless willingness to help others were constant sources of inspiration to her family and friends.
Barbara's legacy is one of love, strength, and selflessness. She will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments but for her unshakable hope, fierce devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to every gathering. She left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graveside service to honor Barbara's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23505. Please send flowers for the graveside service to Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
