Milas Edwin Morris

MORRIS, Milas Edwin "Butch," 71, found his way home to the Lord after battling complications of treatment for leukemia on September 4, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Virginia Morris of Kents Store, Va; children, Gary and Michael Morris; sister, Barbara Jordan; and brother, William "Billy" Hilbert. He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Morris; son, Keith Morris; daughters, Wendy Kaminsky and husband, Dennis, and Jody Conway; grandson, Nathan Conway; sisters, Helen Fleming and husband, Tommy, and Linda McCarthy and husband, David; brother-in-law, Burgess Jordan; sister-in-law, Teeny Hilbert; aunt, Ruby Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at MCV's MRICU and Acute Oncology Unit for their loving care. Butch served in the United States Army. He retired from Bell Atlantic in 1991 after 35 years of service. He was Treasurer and long-term member of Cabell Masonic Lodge #328, and also a lifetime member of Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church in Kents Store. Butch loved God, his country, his family, the great outdoors, football, and a good laugh. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, where a celebration of life will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 2 p.m., conducted by Reverend Sarah Sealand of Christ United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow at Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church in Kents Store. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5511 Staples Road, Suite 202 B, Richmond, Va. 23228, (804)627-0400, and that you consider donating blood to the Virginia Blood Services.
