HAMILTON, Mrs. Candice Howell, 56, of Powhatan, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 in Charlottesville. She was born January 27, 1953 in Indiana. She was the daughter of Barbara Cunningham and the late Clifford Howell. She was the wife of Leslie Wirt Hamilton Jr. She loved taking care of all animals and was a member of the Great Dane Rescue Organization. Candice was an avid horticulturist. She is survived by her husband, Leslie Wirt Hamilton Jr.; her mother, Barbara Cunningham and husband, Arthur, of Florida; her stepmother, Lois Howell; her brother, Larry Howell of Florida; sister, Lori Sheer also, of Florida; her aunt, Peggy Burgess of Georgia; stepbrothers, Jeff Howell of Georgia and Chris Howell of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Hazel McDonald. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 11 a.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Darlington Heights. Memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA or Animal Shelter. Puckett Funeral Home of Farmville is in charge of arrangements.

Candy was such a wonderful person, I worked with her at Walmart. She always was smiling and there to talk to when I needed. I just found out and wanted to express my deepest sympathy to your family, I know she will be missed. She touched many lives with her beautiful smile.
