"Dukie" was one-of-a-kind and will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. Funeral services to be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow at Gwynn's Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, Va. 23109.

I Miss YOU, My Grandma, My Friend…

Thanks, Grandma, for the times we spent together
It’s because of you that I enjoy the river

You took the time to show me how to fish & crab
And enjoy the World that God gave us to grab

I Miss YOU, My Grandma, My Friend…

Your time was also spent making sure your loved ones were ok
In your absence I remind myself to smile because I know you’re with God watching over us today

Memories of conversations we’ve shared I’ll cherish throughout time
I can’t close these thoughts without a few coming to mind –
Like: I’m so hungry, my stomach thinks my throat is cut
Or: I don’t want to get you fat, just keep you alive

I Miss YOU, My Grandma, My Friend…

So many memories to share from over the years
Most filled with laughter and a few with tears

I will see you again in Heaven and we will laugh together at the scene
Remembering when we chewed tobacco & both turned green

I Miss YOU, My Grandma, My Friend…

Grandma, you were my "best girl". Words are completely insufficient to explain how much I love you, and how much I'm going to miss you. Thank you for a lifetime of the "good stuff". See you in the kitchen, we'll make strawberry preserves again. Love Always, Deborah Hailey-Glass (Grand Daughter).

Ed, the Hudson family (long time neighbors on Gwynn's Island) want to extend our sympathy for your loss of Anita. We enjoyed the years of being friends and neighbors. You helped with the renovation of the cottage and addition of the sun room on our home there. Since this was a vacation home, you watched over it while we were away. We will always remember our friendship and the wonderful times we shared over the many years.
