TIMBERLAKE, Ethel Lee Culley, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Westminster Canterbury Richmond. Born in Richmond on September 9, 1916, Lee Timberlake was the first born of the four children of Robert Sim Culley and Ethel Lee Kirby Culley. She was the widow of Donald Crenshaw Timberlake, to whom she was married for more than 68 years until his death on February 11, 2007. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert S. Culley Jr.; and two sisters, Frances C. Heath and Hilda C. Allanson. She is survived by her son, Donald Henry Crenshaw Timberlake; daughter, Betty Bowe Timberlake; and several nephews and nieces. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and for many years, took particular joy in her work with its Women of the Church. After her marriage in 1938, her home was "Rutland," her husband's ancestral home at Atlee, Hanover County, where she lived until she moved to Westminster Canterbury. A private burial service was held at her gravesite in Hollywood Cemetery.
