F. Vernon "Mac" McCracken Jr.

McCRACKEN, F. Vernon "Mac" Jr., of Richmond, Va., died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marguerite Lange McCracken; his four sons, Bill, Frank, Joe and Jim; two daughters, Mary Ann Spicer and Linda Koebel; and nine grandchildren, all in Richmond. He graduated from Benedictine High School and Belmont Abbey College. He was attending The College of William and Mary when he was drafted by the U.S. Army, in which he served from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. The family will receive friends at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., on Sunday September 20, in the afternoon from 2 to 4 and in the evening from 6 to 8, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 21 at 1 p.m. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 300 North Shepperd St., followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229-4899.
