Richard Thomas TUCKER

TUCKER, Richard Thomas, 84, a resident of The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, Va. and formerly of Emporia, Va., passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009. He was born November 1, 1924 in Petersburg, Va. He was the son of the late Richard Thomas Tucker and Annetta Purdy. He was the husband of Jane Everett Tucker for 62 years. Mr. Tucker was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church in Emporia, and a former chairman of the Official Board. He was a former president of the Emporia Country Club, and a member of the Emporia Lions Club for 54 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He is survived by his wife, Jane Everett Tucker; and a devoted brother-in-law, James T. Everett Jr. and his wife, Shearin. His brothers, William S. Tucker and Robert W. Tucker, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 3 p.m. at The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, Va.
