My sister and I shared a lot but you would have never known it. We talk about family and friends mostly. She was a great person who I loved and respected and was always there for anyone who needed her. She was so special so very special ..

My mom wasnt just a mother, she was also a sister, wife, cousin, daughter, and also my best friend in the entire world. She knew me like the back of my hand, and always had the right thing to say to make everything better. She could sew like no other, and she was seriously a superwoman. I definitley believe that she beat the cancer, because now she is free from so much pain, and is now at home with God. I love you so much mumma, an I miss you more and more everyday. Your the Lords most beautiful angel, and also mine, forever and always.

Debbie was one of the strongest, spunkiest, fiestiest women I have ever known and one of the best friends I've ever had. She was the glue that held the Ya Ya sisters together and I don't know what we'll do without her. Sarah, Laura and Julia - I know that you each are like your Mom in your own way and that stregth you have will help you now and in the future. With love, Alice Holland Pauli

Debbie,
I am proud to have called you my friend for the past 42 years. I have so many fond memories of us growing up together. How I miss the days when we used to take the bus downtown to go to Woolworths to buy our favorite record. We had so much fun. I will truly miss you

Sarah, Laura and Julia - My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad and difficult time. I hope the emptiness that you feel will be filled with loving memories of your mother.

Love, Cheryl

I had the pleasure of working with Debbie for over 7 years. Although I haven’t seen her in over two years, I still vividly remember her tenacity and her bravery. I had hoped she would beat it – if anyone could have with her resolve and her good spirits it would have been her. I look forward to meeting her again in an environment free from pain. My deepest sympathy and prayers to her family and friends. With love, Ruth

I had the pleasure to work with Debbie on various projects at Genworth and I always enjoyed talking with her. She was a rare combination of strength, cheer and wisdom with a large dose of "no-nonsense" thrown in. She could cut through the politics and egos of the business world and get to the real issue with a smile on her face the whole time. She was very proud of her girls and spoke of them often. Sarah, Laura and Julia, thank you for sharing your mom with the rest of us - she was very special. Please feel free to contact anyone in her Genworth "family" for anything we can do to help. My condolences to her family and friends.

Debbie's heart and spirit were large and contagious. She was such a central part of the Maria's Threads of Hope group at Genworth. We will miss her greatly. I am sorry she is gone from us, but I am happy she is no longer in pain. I hope she and her family can feel the love and gratitude felt by so many who knew her. (Shana, leader of the MTOH group)

Julia,

We miss you in art class. Since I hardly know you, it has been nice reading the beautiful things that people have written about your mother. Apples don't fall far from their trees so I feel as though I have learned a bit about you through the descriptions of your mother that people have shared. I know that you will miss her terribly and I wish you all the best in this difficult time. Perhaps you can find some solace in your artwork.

I give you this one thought to keep...
I am with you still, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am a diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me gone,
I am with you still in each new dawn.

All of our heartfelt sympathy.

Debbie, my oldest and dearest friend, from the time we first met to your last days, you were always showing me how it was done. Whether it was teaching me a knitting stitch; an answer to one of my millions of questions; to showing me how to be courageous against battling cancer, I know I am who I am because of you’re influence throughout the years.

Sarah, Laura and Julia, please remember your mother is a part of you and you will always have her strength within you.

The “Ya Ya’s” will remember you always.

My sincere condolences to the family.

With nearly 35 years at Genworth Financial, Debbie was a fountain of knowledge and a key go-to resource. She had an incredible passion for her work and always kept customers' best interests at the fore of everything that she did. Her bravery and positive mental attitude throughout her battle with cancer was inspirational. Even as she was sporting her knitted caps in the midst of chemotherapy, it was business as usual for her and when asked how she was, she would smile her broadest smile and say "hanging in there!”. Debbie's energetic personality and deep intellect will be greatly missed by many a friend and colleague at Genworth. Our thoughts are with Debbie’s family who has our sincerest sympathy on their loss.

Mama was the best. Words cannot express how courageous and fearless she was, not only in battling cancer but in everyday life.

One of the last things I said to her before she became unconscious to the world was "Mama, you're the strongest woman in the world. You're such a soldier and a warrior", and she replied back, "I want all my children to be warriors and to be strong."

I hope Mama's looking down upon all of her caring and adoring family, friends, and coworkers and smiling upon us.

Love you, Mama. Your loving daughter, Sarah
