KING, Evelyn Cosby, passed away at her home in Williamsburg on September 25, 2009. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 65 years, Harold "Hal"; her daughter, Kathy; and her son, Chip. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, MaryLynn; and her grandsons, Matthew and Riley. Evelyn was born in Richmond on October 29, 1922. She attended John Marshall High School and graduated from the College of William & Mary, class of 1943. She worked for the State under Governor Mills Godwin before she and Hal retired to Williamsburg. Her passion for writing reflected her insights on life. She wrote "Stepping Out: From Kitchen to Capitol," "The Golden Chain," "A Christmas Eve Adventure," and a number of poetry collections. Her story about growing up "Richmond" on Church Hill in the 1920s was published in Richmond Magazine. She was active at W&M, creating a volunteer program and assisting the Pi Beta Phi Chapter on campus. Arrangements are being made to celebrate her love and joy in life on October 25. Her earthly remains rest at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
