BASSEY, PATRICIA BRUNSWICK Patricia A. Radley Bassey, 60, of Lockrow Rd. died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, Pat was the daughter of the late Howard Radley and Mildred Herrington Brown and wife of Walter R. Bassey of Brunswick. Pat was raised in the East Greenbush and Averill Park areas and was a graduate of the Averill Park High School. Pat had resided in different areas of the country and returned to the area in the late 1970s. She will be remembered for those flower gardens. Pat was the step-daughter of the late Donald "Chucky" Brown and sister of the late Myrtle Radley. Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Wayne R. (Marsha Wesley) Gardner of Glearwater, Fla., Michael D. Gardner of St. Petersburgh, Fla., Alex (Alicia) Bassey of Grafton and Terri (William) Schmoger of Lake Ronkonkoma, L.I.; a brother, Howard Radley Jr. of Troy; her grandchildren, Alex and Bella Bassey, Wyatt, William and Schyler Schmoger; and many dear friends in the area including Tracy Shoemaker of Glass Lake. We were deeply saddened to hear the news about Pat. Years ago Pat helped our company get started. At that time we didn't understand all the ins and outs of good book keeping. Pat spent weeks straightening us out and teaching us. She had the patience of a saint and made this much dreaded book keeping easy. Her pleasant personality and laughter was infectious. That was over 10 years ago and we still use her methods and suggestions. We at the Adirondack Area Network will all miss her.

To Pat's family,
I was saddened to hear of Pat's passing. We went to high school together - she always had a great smile and nice personality. We just lost touch over all these years. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. God Bless!

To Walter, Michael, Wayne, Alex, Terri and the whole family...I feel blessed that I was able to share these past few weeks with you as we cared for and then parted with our dear Pat. I loved her friendship and all the wonderful, crazy, and touching times we had. Ultimately, my memory is indelibly imprinted with visions of her incredibly beautiful gardens. She was such a unique soul. Your friend always, Laurie

Dearest Michael & Wayne, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. As you know, we go back many years, since 1971. I last talked with her a couple of years ago while visiting Bobby & Terri in Florida. Bobby & I shared alot of good times of the past that evening on the phone with her, and then we lost touch again. But she has left me with good memories of her contagious laughter and her big heart. Her free spirit of life will never be forgotten! RIP Pat. As always, Maggie

Walter and family,

Pat is finally at peace and no longer in pain. You can be sure that she is already tending to the gardens in heaven. May you and your family find peace and happiness in the many cherished memories of Pat. I met Pat thru my sister, Elaine, and am so glad that I had the opportunity to do so.
