I was so lucky when I met Ida, Jim and the family, and fortunate they had room in their hearts to yet 'take in' another to their family and made to feel so comfortable to be around. Jim was such a true gentleman and would do anything for anyone without hesitation. It was always a joy to watch him with Ida, you would be able to feel the love he had for her across the room. I never heard him complain about anything, or have a harsh word about anyone. I have lots of memories of times spent with this family, and I thank all the family for this. Jim certainly had a way about him, he never had a bad day, at least not that he would show to anyone. This family is extraordinary with love for each other as well as others, and this will help you all through this difficult time. Jim will be missed, but we will all smile as we remember this terrific man. Heaven has gotten a unique angel, he's probably rewiring the 'gates' and setting up all new kinds of lighting so he can better look down on all of us, especially Ida and the family. Keep smiling Jim, and so will we as we look up.

My thoughts are prayers are with Ida, Jim and Marla, Derek, Rachel, Neil and the rest of his family- I have known the family for over 35 years and have many fond memories of Jim "Sr". I even remember when he was learning to fly - now this good man has a different set of wings.

I met Jim one time at his son's wedding to Kathy. He made me feel as though I had known him my whole life only because his son told him I was his friend and a fellow IBEW member. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to meet such a wonderful Union Brother! My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family at this time.

Jim Powell was like my second dad. He was always there for me. He will always be in my heart. I will always remember bloody marys and mimosas with him and Ida every spring in the yard rain or shine. What fun we had.
What a wonderful and kind person. He will be missed. My heart is with all of you as family. Now he can rest. God bless you all.
