David Gagnon Obituary

Gagnon, David V. NISKAYUNA David V. Gagnon entered into eternal rest peacefully during his sleep on Sunday, August 10, 2008. David was born on January 2, 1967 and grew up in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. and he enjoyed acting in a theater group throughout his high school years. He graduated with a B.S. in English from SUNY Plattsburgh and was a longtime resident of the Capital District. David was a devoted and proud father to his sons, Shawn Baxter-Gagnon and Tyler David Gagnon; loving husband to his wife, Jennifer Baxter-Gagnon. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Nixon; sisters, Karen Stokes and children Erick, Jamie Lynn, Spencer and Jason; Joyce Viertel and children Travis, Thomas and David; and Lynn (Gary) Policastro and children Corey and Jake. Best friends and brother-in-law to Jonathan (Kimberly) Waxman and children Hope and Hailey. David was a longtime employee of PERMA in Latham, N.Y. He was an enthusiastic New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Some of Dave's most favorite pastimes were coaching Shawn's Little League baseball team, wrestling and playing Pokemon with Tyler and spending time with his many beloved nieces and nephews. Dave's quick wit, great sense of humor and uncanny ability to quote movie dialogue "Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water. Our shark," always made him the life of the party and will be missed beyond our ability to express. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Niskayuna Reformed Church, Troy-Schenectady Road, Niskayuna. Calling hours will be this evening from 4 to 7 at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady for those who wish to call. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gagnon childrens' education fund at Key Bank, 1610 Eastern Pkwy., Niskayuna, NY 12309. Jen, Jon, Kim and family,
I am so very sorry. I only met Dave a handful of times when I would visit my sister at work, but in the few short times we met I very much enjoyed his crazy sense of humor and ability to make everyone around him laugh. I could tell what a special person he was. I'm so very sorry.

Dave - I'm still having a hard time believing that you're gone. I can still hear your voice in my head. Thank you for making me laugh all these years. My heart will hurt for a long time now that you're not here. Jen - Dave loved you and his boys so much. You could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice whenever he spoke about you or told us stories about the boys. He was so much to so many people. We will all miss him terribly.
