Martha Czosnykowski Obituary

Czosnykowski, Martha AMSTERDAM Martha Czosnykowski, 85, of Amsterdam, N.Y. passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Care Facility. Born on May 6, 1922 in the Ukraine, she was the daughter of Andrzej and Filomena Bondyk Luczenko. During World War II, the Nazi's took her to Germany to work as slave labor in their factories. There she met Ted, the man who was to become her husband. They were married on August 20, 1945. After the war they settled in Amsterdam. Mrs. Czosnykowski was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, homemaking, cooking for family and friends, bingo and her pet cat. She was a member of the Church of Saint John the Baptist. She is survived by her three sons, Wes Czosnykowski and his wife Kathleen of Delmar, Harry Czosnykowski of Amsterdam and Ed Czosnykowski and his companion Denise White of Rotterdam; a stepsister, Mary Luczenko of the Ukraine; her granddaughter, Kristen Czosnykowski of Delmar; grandson, Gary Czosnykowski of Amsterdam; her nephew, John Gieza of Amsterdam and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Thadeusz (Ted) Czosnykowski on April 30, 1986 and her infant daughter, Kazimira Czosnykowski. Her family extends their thanks to the staff of the Wilkinson Facility and to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam. They also want to extend their gratitude to her friends and neighbors for their help with her care, for their visits, prayers and concern. Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 9:30 a.m. by a funeral Mass at the Church of St. John the Baptist, 40 Van Derveer Street, Amsterdam. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. At her family's request in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Montgomery County SPCA or to the Church of Saint John the Baptist both in care of the funeral chapel.

Dear Wes & Kathy,
I was very sorry to hear of Martha's passing. I only met her the one time when we shared Thanksgiving Dinner with her at Mike & Rose's. She was a lovely woman and I am sure you all will miss her.
