Jane, we enjoyed our relatively short time together at Leonard Wood, but we never forgot what fine friends we had in you and Pat. Our prayers have been with you for a long time, and we guarantee you that they will continue. Pickle and Jim Barnett, USMA 1948

I admired Pat from our days at Rensselaer through our teaching assignment at West Point. I have never known a finer friend or soldier. I am even more saddened to notice the passing of his brother Leo who I met briefly, and quite by accident, at a military ball in Hawaii.

Dear Jane and Rosanne,
Please accept my warmest condolences on the passing of Pat. To we on Lamberton Road, he was the original "hero" - a man of exceptional strength and integrity. Father Joe has said it all: he was a leader in the best sense of the word. I remember the day he returned from Korea. What a man - what a time - what a loss. Warmest regards

A real man, a gentleman, a scholar, a leader of the first rate, a real friend. He will be missed, but remembered in my prayers and masses. Whenever St. Ann's folks get together, he will be discussed. My sympathy and prayer. Fr. Joe Goebel

Patrick Joseph Donohoe
Quite a man, Irish to the core, I called him Pat, Patty or Patrick-Me-Boy. I don't know why, except I have always admired the Irish. I guess it's their down to earth love of life, their loyalty to the Old Sod and a determination to never quit. That was Pat, every bit of him, and more!
What more? Well he was very bright and talented, a scholar, a teacher, an athlete, a soldier and over of all a dedicated family man. But above it all, he was a deeply religious man, completely embracing Jesus Christ, as his savior, through his Catholic faith. And there was no compromising on that!
Pat and I first met, as Plebes on the football field at West Point or maybe earlier as Beasts double timing around Central Area. We ended in adjacent Cadet Companies, in North Area, but somehow never in the same class rooms - for Pat was an Engineer and I was a Goat. Yet, we played against each other in several Goat-Engineer Football Games over the years. The Goats always won-naturally! Sorry Pat-but don't dispute it-you all!
We teamed again on Varsity Hockey. Pat was a first line Defenseman on a team that beat RMC, the Royal Military Academy of Canada, for the first time in many years. We had a great team that year and he had a lot to do with it then and in other years!
On Graduation, Pat and I went our separate ways, he to the Engineers and I to the Air Force. He served in combat in Korea, being awarded a Bronze Star and unfortunately collected a Purple Heart as well. It wasn't until retirement that we renewed our friendship in Annapolis.
Unfortunately, Pat's body gave out early on, but not his mind. He is resting in peace now in the hands of his Lord! I'll miss the old Mick, yet the great memories will remain.
A friend is a friend up to the end. I don't know who said it, but it is true in this case! Well done Pat, we will miss you, but never forget you!
