Mary Kelley Obituary

Kelley, Mary Ellen
Mary Ellen slipped quietly away surrounded by her family on the evening of March 7, 2011. She was the beloved wife and partner to Paul and mother to Brooke, Stacy (Louis), Tim (Pilar), foster mother to Maricela (Bob), grandmother to Katie (Brian), Alison, Kelley, Anderson and Paul, and great-grandmother to Ashley and Justin. She was born Mary Ellen Shehan in Baltimore, MD on September 7, 1937. She is survived by three brothers; Brooke, Tomas, George and one sister, Laurie. She and Paul were married in Atlanta, GA and moved to Phoenix in 1970. Their property on Pasadena Avenue became the family "Compound" and a welcoming place of refuge for family, friends and a number of young people. She was truly gifted at reaching out to people and making a difference in the lives of everyone she touched. In 1989 Mary Ellen and Paul turned their passion for entertaining and hosting guests into a business and opened "Maricopa Manor, A Bed & Breakfast Inn". She will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial celebration will be held at her home in April. Arrangements under the direction of A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, Phoenix, AZ. One of my happiest times with Mary Ellen was sitting in the kitchen with her and Paul. It was breakfast time and she was busy preparing her famous breakfast baskets for her guests. She did it so elegantly. I will always treasure our friendship. Im so happy that Paul is nearby in Phoenix.
